Local Hawk Watch Information

Fyke members participate as volunteer coordinators, counters, and spotters at several locations during the annual Fall migration.

The counts for all the North American hawk watch sites are compiled at the Hawk Watch website maintained by the Hawk Migration Association.

Stiles Thomas founded the Mt Peter Hawk Watch in 1958. It is the oldest all-volunteer hawk watch and third-oldest hawk watch in the country. Judy Cinquina was coordinator for many years. Ken Witkowski is the current coordinator. kenwitkowski@yahoo.com

Lynn Pierson founded this hawk watch — the only major hawk watch in Bergen County — in 1997 and ran it until her death in 2007. In 2010, the Palisades Interstate Park Commission got it going again, with Kurt Muenz as the coordinator. In recent years Karl Soehnlein coordinated the hawk watch.
