Ramapo College Leaders In Service

Fyke President Mike Limatola has engaged with Leaders In Service volunteers from Ramapo College now for several years. Here are some photos and messages from him to the Fyke email list about their activities.

Hi All,

I worked with 27 Ramapo College LIS (Leaders in Service) students at the Celery Farm on Saturday, removing 35 feet of rotted, unstable boardwalks on the west trail, and replacing them with wood chips. The other 55 feet will be removed in the future. This is the 3rd year they've worked with me at the preserve. They're an amazing group of students who worked really hard and persevered through any problems, and had fun doing it.

2024

Another great work session with the Ramapo College LIS Students at the Celery Farm today! They cleared the massive debris jam at the parking lot bridge and several other large log and stick jams upstream, which were hindering proper water flow. Keeping the preserve's waterways clear of debris moves water out of the preserve quickly, preventing sediment from building up and reduces flooding.

A huge thanks to all the students who participated today!!!
